How to Change a city.

My day at work today involved taking a group of young people who are mostly known in the area for causing anti-social behaviour, down to a bridge and footpath in the local community that needed a lot of clearing up.

Why?

Honestly? Due to the spending cuts in The City Council, made by powers above, they do not have the resources to keep on top of cleaning our city.
We saw that there was a need in our local area that had not been met.
So we put our boots on, got our tools, and started to work. Litter picking, hedge/tree cutting, sweeping, moving fly tipping and removing graffiti. We want to make our city a cleaner place!

Changing a city starts at ground level, it starts with me, with us, the people. You represent your city.It might be Derby, Nottingham, Manchester, London or even Detroit! And what YOU do matters!
Picking up that pop can on the footpath, volunteering your time to local clean up projects – organise one with your neighbours. Offer to wash your neighbours car, or cut their grass for them.
It doesn’t have to be a big thing – what is it that you like to do? Baking? Walking dogs? Making cards? DIY? Painting? Plastering? The list is endless!
Each of us has a skill, a talent a gifting.

My question to you is
How will you use yours to change YOUR city?
