Speak up!

I have to confess at this very moment that I am totally behind on my reading through the Bible in 90 days! But it doesn’t mean that I am giving up, it just means it will take me slightly longer. I’m not the kind of person who can read something for the sake of reading it. My prayer this time round was for God to speak to me through what I read, for fresh things to be highlighted, and they have been! So I have been taking a little bit longer in getting through the Old Testament. You think you know a story, you think you have got all the nuggets, when suddenly . . BOOM! Another lesson, another something to be thankful for! I LOVE the word of God it is NEVER boring!

So I have just finished reading Esther, that girl was pretty brave! We all know the verse “for such a time as this” and we all have probably used it when we or our friends are in situations that create opportunity. But lets look at the verses before that . . .

When Hathach told Mordecai what Esther had said, Mordecai sent her this message: “Don’t think that just because you live in the king’s house you’re the one Jew who will get out of this alive. If you persist in staying silent at a time like this, help and deliverance will arrive for the Jews from someplace else; but you and your family will be wiped out. Who knows? Maybe you were made queen for just such a time as this.” (Esther 4:13-14, MSG)

I’m not sure about you, but I know I am guilty of thinking that God needs ME to fulfill His word. That without ME, how is God gonna get anything done!
When reading this it is clear that God does not NEED me to do what He has called me to do. He has got plenty of other people who are willing and available to be used, but God WANTS me to be a part of His master plan! Who am I to get in the way?
It is true that God has a plan for our lives, it is true that He chose us, picked us out, and wants to use us. But he does not NEED us! He is God, Sovereign, more than able!

This really humbled me, and encourages me that God has given me a huge responsibility. Who am I to keep quiet when I need to speak up? Who am I to run away, when I need to run towards? He totally loves me and desires for me to do His will!

God has His way even if we are disobedient! I don’t want miss all that God has for me because of fear, or because of apathy! My prayer is that God would give me boldness to speak out, give me courage to look in the face of death to self in order to save nations! Not because of me, or my fame, or my applause, but because of you God! Because of His fame, His Glory!

Grateful to be chosen and wanted!
